News from Saxtead
We had a promising meeting last week with the DAC over permission to go ahead with the loo & kitchenette in the church, and they looked favourably on our plans for edging the Memorial plot with butterfly-loving shrubs and plants, a bench and an engraved stone with appropriate words
19 attended our Remembrance day service led by The Rev Terry Gilder. The wreath was laid by George Cullingford who read out the names of those in our village who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The church services have had to be cancelled but the building remains open for private prayer. Val Speight is taking orders for notelets illustrating our marvellous scarecrow competition entries. 60 pence each - ring Val on 01728 685430.
Eggs when available and jars of kefir starter grains are for sale in the church porch in aid of the church. Several small celebrations took part in the village to mark Hilda’s 90th birthday, although sadly it was not possible to match the splendid party for Eleanor’s 90th a few years ago at the Speights.
