Lockdown Lent in Saxtead At last Covid cases are dropping, the icy blast from Siberia has retreated, the snowdrops are out and our much loved windmill is turning in the brilliant sunshine! This Lent, the Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich Lightwave Project is encouraging us to do something kind every day for 40 days: a kind word of encouragement, a telephone call to a friend or neighbour who lives alone, or why not send or forward a photograph that will bring back happy memories shared? John Hutton is also very kindly hosting a collection for a hamper to thank the teachers and staff at Earl Soham Primary School who have not only had to adjust to online lessons and classes for the children of essential workers during this pandemic, but now face the challenge of ensuring the younger children catch up in the 3Rs. The money collected will buy delicious goods from Hutton’s shelves and will be delivered to the school before the Easter holidays, together with thankyou cards posted in the golden post-box.
